The Zaky App
For the course Rapid Prototyping, a design for an application for Nurtured by Design's upcoming product The Zaky was developed.
After doing a literature review to gain background knowledge on Kangaroo Care and its use in America I conducted a competitive evaluation on similar vital tracking and baby care applications and physical devices.
After the competitive evaluation was completed I created three scenarios that would identify the main areas of the applications uses. The third was adding feeding numbers for baby feeding.
The first scenario was using the Kangaroo Care Timer to help the caregivers meet the daily kangaroo care requirements.
The second was viewing the baby's vitals over the past month.
The third was adding feeding numbers for baby feeding.
After testing the designs with two recent parents, I modified the language the application used, and changed the feeding functionality to be easier to complete with one hand and more intuitive.
